Colours, especially lighter colours, use chemicals to open the cuticle, penetrate the hair and alter the hair from within. This process can cause the hair to lose some of it's protein.

By using a product that contains a protein source you will be adding back some of the strength  and elasticity lost through these chemical processes.

When Hair Doesn't Need Protein

If your hair is healthy, it may not need any extra protein.

In fact using a protein on hair that doesn't need it can make your hair feel dry and brittle, so the products above should be avoided until your hair is more balanced.
